Seki Onsen suits experienced riders chasing deep, ungroomed snow on a tiny two-lift hill, and its trade-off is that a couple of dry days leave it tracked out with little else to ride.

Seki Onsen is a small hot-spring hamlet north of Akakura, and its ski area has just two chairs and four courses. Myoko Tourism puts the top at 1,210 metres and the base at 900. The crews groom very little, so the snow stays deep and wild after a storm. A local guide site notes that the upper single chair often stays shut on quiet days.
When it has not snowed for a day or two the whole hill can be tracked by mid-morning. Guide outfits such as ITADAKI TOURS and SARC work from here and lead trips beyond the ski area into the surrounding peaks. The resort's own website lists them under backcountry.
Tickets cost less than at the bigger Myoko resorts. Parking at P2 is free every day and P1 charges on weekends. The resort ran until 12 April in 2026, and Myoko Tourism says it often keeps going into early May when the other resorts have shut.
Worth knowing
- Go the morning after a storm; the hill is too small to hide fresh snow for long.
- Book a guide if you plan to ride beyond the area. The resort publishes no gate system of its own.
- The Keinan bus runs between Sekiyama station and Seki Onsen; check the timetable on the resort's access page.
