Kaze no Restaurant suited riders starting or finishing the Shimanami Kaido at Itoyama who wanted a seated meal facing the Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge, and for winter 2026/27 it is out of action while the city rebuilds Sunrise Itoyama.
The restaurant sits inside Sunrise Itoyama, Imabari City's cycling terminal at the foot of the Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge, where Shimanami Japan runs its No. 9 Imabari Itoyama rental terminal. Mapple describes ocean-view dining with island paella and Ehime sea bream steamed with Shimanami lemon, though its listing carries no date. In April 2026 the city signed an agreement with a group led by Yonden Business to rebuild the site as a higher-end stay. The city's page set work on the existing building to start on 15 September 2026, and the plan reopens it around winter 2027/28 with 23 rooms and a restaurant.
Worth knowing
- For a meal at the Imabari end this winter, ride the extra stretch into the city or eat at Yoshiumi Iki-iki-kan on the Oshima side of the bridge.
