Toribayashi suits riders who want old-school Imabari yakitori close to the station, and its trade-off is a closed day that two tourism pages give differently.
What to order
- Kawa, crunchier than at most griddle shops
- Senzanki in the house seasoning
Toribayashi has cooked only griddle yakitori for close to 40 years by the tourism association's count, and the second-generation owner kept the founder's recipe on taking over. The kitchen uses mature hens (oyadori), which give a chewier bite and a deeper flavour than young birds. Regulars order the kawa first for its crunch. The house senzanki carries a seasoning of its own, and many of the customers come in every day.
Worth knowing
- Mapple puts the shop five minutes on foot from Imabari Station, and it has two parking spaces.
