Ryori Ryokan Seto

Seto began as a fish restaurant on Hakatajima, and the family still cooks first and lodges second. All four tatami rooms face Funaori Seto, a narrow channel known for strong tides. From the window you can watch the water swirl and the ships work through. The house dish is deep-fried soft-shell crab under a homemade sweet vinegar, and the upgrade plan runs to 9 to 11 dishes of fish bought from Oshima fishermen.
Rooms have no bath or toilet of their own. A medium bath for four and a small one for two serve as family baths or as men's and women's baths depending on bookings, from 16:00 to 22:00. In the morning there are showers only. Pay in cash, and phone ahead if you will miss the 18:00 check-in.
