Minamiboso suits riders who want quiet farm valleys behind a long coast road, and its trade-off is a spread-out city where the cyclists' clubhouse and many rental desks open only at weekends or close by late afternoon.

Who should base here
Stay at HEGURI HUB to ride the inland valleys on a weekend, or by the sea at Shirahama or Chikura to start the Pacific side early.
Eat in Minamiboso
Minamiboso wraps round Tateyama on three sides, from Tomiura on Tokyo Bay to Shirahama, Chikura and Wada on the Pacific. Inland, HEGURI HUB fills the old Heguri nursery school below Mt. Iyogatake. The Awa no Kuni cycle tourism association opened a clubhouse for riders in 2017, and since July 2021 the site has added a guesthouse and a lunch counter beside the showers and bike tools.
The roadside stations make the easy stops on a coast ride. Tomiura's Biwa Club sells loquat soft-serve and loquat curry, while Chikura's Shiokaze Okoku sits on the fishing harbour with the day's catch at its counters. Nojimasaki Lighthouse at Shirahama marks the southern tip of the peninsula, and you can climb it for ¥300.
A rental from one station can go back to another under the Minamiboso Kurukuru Shararan scheme for ¥3,300. It links the west exit of Tateyama Station with the Minamiboso tourist information centre in Tomiura, the Chikura tourist office and several roadside stations, so a one-way coast ride works without a car.
