Nojimasaki Lighthouse stands on the southernmost point of the Boso Peninsula at Shirahama in Minamiboso. The white octagonal tower copies the first lighthouse here, lit in 1869 as the second in Japan, which fell in the Great Kanto Earthquake. From its balcony you look back along the peninsula.
The Tokokai brought in a lunch break at 14 of its climbable lighthouses on 1 March 2026, and this is one of them. The tower closes from noon to 13:00, so time a ride round the cape to arrive in the morning or after one.
Worth knowing
- Arrive before noon or after 13:00, when the lighthouse reopens.
