Toba Aquarium鳥羽水族館Aquarium
About 1,200 species beside the ferry terminal, and the only aquarium in Japan with a dugong.
The Ise-wan Ferry lands at the Toba ferry terminal, which the Pacific Cycling Road treats as its gateway to Mie, with racks and coin lockers. Toba Aquarium is next door. On the other side of town, Toba 1-bangai by the station runs the Toba Cycle Station, where you can rebuild a bagged bike on the mats with the free tools and leave a bag for ¥300.
Mie's first model course runs 66.9 km from the ferry terminal along the coast to the Yokoyama viewpoint above Ago Bay, and climbs steeply to the Toba viewpoint at 162 m about 30 km in. The third course is a gentler 25 km inland past Futami's Okitama Shrine to the two shrines of Ise Jingu. Toba's own rental bikes stay inside the city, so ride your own or rent in Ise for the shrines.
