Setoda Tarumi Onsen
Tarumi Onsen opened in 1978 and began drawing its hot spring in 2002, and it calls itself the only natural onsen on the island. The water carries radon and metasilicic acid. The house faces the sand at Sunset Beach on a plot of more than 1,000 tsubo with lemon groves to the east, so the rooms and the bath look west over Hyotan-jima at sunset.
Japanese and Western rooms both face the sea. The owner picks guests up from Setoda port, five minutes away by car, and from the Setoda parking area on the expressway bus. Riders reach it on the island loop road about 40 minutes from the Ikuchi Bridge cycle path.
