Oishi Park on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi frames Mt. Fuji across the water above beds of lavender and kochia, and suits families and riders lapping the lake who want the view without a climb; between 10:00 and 16:00 on spring and autumn weekends the lakeside road jams with traffic.

Fuji stands straight across the lake from here with little in the way, and the town's tourism office lists the park as one of its best-known photo spots. The flower walk runs for about 350 metres beside the water, purple with lavender in early summer and red with kochia once autumn arrives. Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center next door sells local produce and light meals.
Fujikawaguchiko's tourism office warns that early April to May and late October to mid-November bring the heaviest traffic, worst on weekends and holidays between about 10:00 and 16:00. It suggests leaving the car behind for the sightseeing buses and rental bikes that start from Kawaguchiko Station. The town also asks photographers to keep paths clear with their tripods and to stay off private land.
Worth knowing
- Rent a bike in Funatsu near Kawaguchiko Station, where the town's list puts a standard bike at about ¥600 an hour.
- Come on a weekday morning in the autumn leaf season, since the town names that window as the way round the jams.
