With Yamato's Ski Takkyubin you hand the bag over at a Yamato office, an agent shop or a home pickup two days before you ski, three in some areas, and it waits at the resort from the day before. Yamato wants every ski or board bag inside its own cover, ¥400 for skis and ¥600 for a snowboard, and charges it at the 180 size rate. Convenience stores will not take board bags.
Sagawa sells a round trip for skis, boards, golf bags and suitcases. The driver collects the bag and both fares at your door and hands you the return waybill. Leave the bag at the hotel front desk with that waybill on it when you go home. The return waybill is valid for ten days after pickup, so check with Sagawa before a longer stay.
Bikes are harder. Yamato takes a bike you have boxed yourself, as long as the box stays within 200 cm in length, width and height combined and 30 kg. An e-bike goes by land and sea and takes longer. Sagawa's personal-customer pages top out at 160 cm and 30 kg as of October 2026, which rules out most bike boxes.
