B.B.BASE
Train
B.B.BASE is JR East's cycle train out of Ryogoku, where your bike rides whole in a rack and you ride beside it to the Boso Peninsula. It runs only on set days, and the next one is B.B.BASE Teganuma on 17 October 2026.
Road closure
The JR Uchibo line runs a reduced service after Typhoon No. 25
Typhoon No. 25 damaged the JR Uchibo line in late September 2026. From 5 October trains run between Kisarazu and Awa-Kamogawa at about half the usual frequency, and a replacement bus covers the cut between Anegasaki and Nagaura. Plan extra time for rinko trips to Tateyama and the southern Boso coast, and check JR East's notices before you travel.

Weather and cancellations
JR East cancelled the 26 September and 10 October 2026 runs because of damage from Typhoon No. 25.
B.B.BASE has run since January 2018 as a six-car train with 99 seats, and car 4 is open free space. You wheel the bike aboard, set it in a rack and strap the frame, and the train carries you both out of Ryogoku. The floors are grippy rubber for cleated shoes, and the tables have power sockets for lights and phones.
The 2026 calendar has been thin. Runs went out in September and early October, and typhoon damage cancelled the 26 September and 10 October trains. The last run JR East lists for the year is B.B.BASE Teganuma on 17 October, running out to Fusa for rides round Lake Teganuma, with nothing scheduled in November.
Every seat is reserved. Eki-net opens requests at 14:00 one month and one week before a run, and ticket offices start selling at 10:00 a month before. Check the rack rules before you go, because a bike with mudguards or knobbly tyres has to travel bagged.
Worth knowing
- Tap your Suica at a normal gate before you walk to the B.B.BASE gate at Ryogoku.
- Bring a bike bag even on B.B.BASE, as JR East asks.

What is a rinko bag, and which one do you need for Japan's trains?
A rinko bag is the soft cover that turns a bike into luggage for Japan's trains. JR wants every part inside it and the whole bag within 250 cm and 30 kg, and a shop like Y's Road in Ueno will match one to your frame.
