Mori Trust's Hotel Laforet Shuzenji spreads over a large wooded site in Ohira, south-west of Shuzenji Onsen. You choose between the Sanshi-suimei rooms with their own open-air onsen bath, the guesthouse and centre house wings, and cottages that sleep up to twelve. Some rooms take dogs.
The Mori-no-Yu baths look out over the Amagi range, with an outdoor bath and a sauna on both sides, and the water is a clear alkaline simple spring. The bath page gives two slightly different timetables, both opening early in the morning and again from midday to midnight, and day visitors pay ¥940 between 12:00 and 21:00. A swimwear zone lets mixed groups bathe together from 15:00 to 22:00, and hotel guests may use the spa at Izu Marriott Hotel Shuzenji next door at no charge.
For riders the appeal is space and parking more than any service. The plan page lists a cyclist support plan, so call and ask what it covers before you count on it.
