Restaurant ORAE

ORAE sits on Lake Tazawa a minute's walk from the Horai no Matsu stop on the lake loop bus, and every seat in the dining room looks over the water. You can see the brewing plant from your table, and the Kohan no Mori beers use Akita rice and hops, with fruit juice in some brews. The kitchen builds Western plates around vegetables from local farmers and keeps Inaniwa udon on the menu. ORAE means "our house" in Akita dialect, and staff light the fireplace on cold evenings from autumn on.

The restaurant stays open through the winter on a different timetable, which it posts on its notices page. In the ski season ORAE also runs Lounge Kuromori on the second floor of the Rera ski house at Tazawako Ski Area. Every seat there has underfloor heating, so you can drink the same beer in ski boots between runs.
