Iwate has had a bear warning in force since 22 April 2026 after sightings ran far above the usual level, Aomori's warning runs from 20 April to 30 November 2026, and Akita's advisory covers October. Momoya is a kappo restaurant about 150 metres from Tazawako Station, with a tatami hall where you take off your shoes and a few tables with chairs. The tourism association lists kiritanpo and a Hinai chicken hotpot among its regular dishes, along with daily set meals cooked from seasonal produce. A reviewer in March 2026 came for the kiritanpo nabe set and singled out the kiritanpo, which the kitchen makes itself. Akita sake such as Yuki no Bosha is on the list, and evenings are kept for booked banquets.
