JR Central runs the Tokaido Shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka. Nozomi 117 made the run in 147 minutes in the 2026 timetable. The Nozomi passes Mishima and Maibara, so riders bound for Izu or Lake Biwa take a Hikari or Kodama. Kodama trains reached Mishima from Tokyo in 53 minutes.
The luggage rule here differs from JR East's. JR Central sells seats with an oversized-baggage area in the last row of some cars. On a 16-car Nozomi that means five seats in each of cars 3 to 6 and 12 to 16, plus four in each Green car from 8 to 10. Bring a bag over 160 cm without that booking and the conductor charges ¥1,000.
JR Central's page sets bicycles and other sports gear outside the oversized rule. A bike bag still needs the booking if you want the space behind the back row, and the page notes that sports gear over the length limit may ride standing in its case.

- Book an oversized-baggage seat as soon as sales open a month ahead, since a Kodama carries only 17 of them.
