Who should base here
Stay on Yugejima so the Yumeshima loop starts at the door and the last ferry stops mattering.
Kamijima is a town of 25 islands in the middle of the Seto Inland Sea, on the Ehime side of the border with Hiroshima. Bridges link Yuge, Sashima and Ikina, and the Iwagi Bridge joined Iwagi to Ikina in 2022, so four islands now ride as one 63.1 km course that Ehime calls the Yumeshima Kaido. Ferries come from Habu and Karoto on Innoshima, from Ikuchijima and from Imabari port, and some Imabari high-speed sailings take no bikes.
Until 31 March 2027, visitors who come to ride pay nothing for the bike on these ferries under the Kamijima Cycle Free scheme: fill in the voucher and hand it to the crew, and pay your own fare as usual. On 25 October 2026 the Cycling Shimanami event sends course B out to Iwagijima and back, and course G ends on Yugejima.
Yuge Sea Station by Yuge port is the cycle rest stop, open 8:30 to 17:15 every day, with toilets, coin laundry, showers and pumps.
