Innoshima suits riders who want sea views from a hilltop hotel and a dose of Murakami sea-clan history, and the island's best viewpoints sit up steep climbs.

Things to do in Innoshima
Innoshima was its own city until it joined Onomichi in 2006. The Innoshima Bridge links it to Mukaishima and the Ikuchi Bridge to Ikuchijima, so the Shimanami route crosses the island's north end. The Murakami sea clans held these waters, and the Innoshima Suigun Castle museum tells their story.
Habu, the port town in the south, has the shipyards and the inns. Hotel Innoshima stands up in Innoshima Park on Tengu-yama with sea views from every room, and its port bus carries two bikes. Look for hassaku daifuku, a rice cake filled with the island's sharp citrus.
