Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Village
Hotel Village is a large resort in the woods on the east side of Kusatsu at 1,200 m, with wings of Western rooms and Japanese-Western family rooms. Its baths run on three different sources and stay open through the night, and the Therme Therme building next door adds a heated pool with lanes and a jacuzzi to the onsen. In winter it runs snowshoe walks in the forest and rents winter wear.
The shuttle bus to the bus terminal and the Yubatake saves the climb back uphill at night. Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort is five minutes away by car. Phones and cameras are banned in the bathing areas.
