K's House Ito Onsen
¥
K's House Ito Onsen fills a wooden ryokan about a hundred years old beside the river in Ito, seven minutes' walk from JR Ito Station. The building is a listed cultural property, and it became a hostel in 2010. Staff speak English, there is no curfew, and the rooms have no TVs.
The onsen is free-flowing from the source and open 24 hours, with a large shared bath and private baths as well. You sleep on futons in a seven-bed mixed dorm, a five-bed female dorm or a private tatami room, and most rooms look over the river. The kitchen lets you cook, and a washer and dryer cost ¥500.
Riders get free parking for up to five bikes. Ito sits on Route 135 down the east coast of the peninsula, and the hostel makes a cheap first night out of Atami or a base for loops into the Izu hills.
