Jogasaki Coast in Ito is a run of black lava cliffs that walkers cross on a 48-metre suspension bridge slung 23 metres above the surf, and it suits anyone happy on uneven ground for an hour or two; the trail is rough underfoot and the bridge is no place for vertigo.

The coast paths cross rough lava with steps and tree roots, and the suspension bridge hangs about 23 metres above the sea.
About 4,000 years ago Mt. Omuro erupted and its lava ran into the sea here, cooling into the cliffs and inlets of the coast. The Picnical Course and the nature study path together run for about 9 km along the top. From the Kadowaki car park a short walk brings you to the Kadowaki suspension bridge, 48 metres long and about 23 metres above the water.
Climb the observation deck of Kadowaki-zaki lighthouse for a view round the full circle, out to the Izu Islands at sea and back to the Amagi range inland. Ito's tourism office also sends walkers to look for the potholes worn into the lava. From Jogasaki-Kaigan Station on the Izukyu line the walk to the coast takes about 35 minutes.
