Hakone Tent
¥5,900 a night
Hakone Tent opened in June 2014 in an old ryokan three minutes on foot from Gora station, the top of the Hakone Tozan line. Its two indoor baths, one stone and one hinoki, take free-flowing milky sulphate water piped from Owakudani at pH 2.2, and they open 24 hours. Men and women swap baths daily. A two-person private room starts at ¥13,200.
The guesthouse closed for renovation late in 2025 and reopened on 16 February 2026. The bar now pours drinks only from 17:00 to 22:00, and guests can bring in their own food. Children under six can stay only in the apartment annex, whose living room looks out at the Daimonji-yaki bonfire on the mountainside. Parking is limited, so ask ahead if you're driving.
