Stage 6 of the Pacific Cycling Road follows the Wakayama coast from the Kumano River at Shingu round Kushimoto at Honshu's southern tip and up the Kii Channel to the finish at Kada port in Wakayama City. It suits riders who want Kumano's World Heritage shrines and a mild winter coast in one stage, and Wakayama's route page recommends it in every season with a warning about ice in winter.

Ride safely
- Wakayama's route page warns of ice on the road in winter. On cold mornings wait for the sun before the shaded cuttings.
- The council's repair list for Wakayama has nothing between Nachikatsuura and Tanabe, so carry spares round the cape.

Tunnels
The line runs through 31 tunnels, 7.0 km in all; the longest is 675 m.
The stage starts at Shingu, home of Kumano Hayatama Taisha, and runs down the coast through Nachikatsuura and Taiji to Kushimoto. There the Hashigui-iwa rock pillars stand in a line out toward Oshima. Nachi Falls and Kumano Nachi Taisha sit inland of the line up a side road, and the council suggests them as a detour.
West of Kushimoto the line runs along the open coast through Susami to Shirahama. Engetsu Island, the Sandanbeki cliffs and the Senjojiki rock shelf all sit beside the road there, and Shirarahama's white sand beach curves round the bay. Nanki-Shirahama Airport is an official gateway.
North of Tanabe the line follows the coast past Minabe and Gobo to the Shirasaki coast, whose cliffs shine white in the sun, then through Yuasa, which the council calls the birthplace of soy sauce, and along the Arita mikan coast to Wakayama City. Kinokuni Line cycle trains cover the coast from Wakayama to Shingu. Unbagged bikes ride local trains between Gobo and Shingu with no booking, and the Kuroshio Cycle limited express carries reserved bikes between Shirahama and Shingu.

- Book the Kuroshio Cycle ahead. It loads bikes only at Shirahama, Kushimoto, Kii-Katsuura and Shingu.
