The key ticket covers all 45 lifts and gondolas across the 18 areas from 5 December 2026 to 5 May 2027. Students pay ¥6,500 a day, children ¥4,000 and seniors ¥8,000. Early-season and spring day passes cost ¥7,500, with the early period running 5–18 December 2026. Night and early-morning sessions need separate tickets. Online sales open on 1 November 2026, and you can recharge a kept key ticket online and go straight to the lifts. Shiga Kogen also belongs to the NAGANO 7 Powder Dream Pass, and the Mt.3 Pass pairs Yakebitaiyama and Okushiga Kogen with Madarao.
Get between them
Shuttle buses link the ski areas along the plateau, and the lifts join most of them on the snow. Shiga Kogen asks visitors to look up bus times on Google Maps with the bus option. The Nagaden direct bus runs from Nagano Station East Exit, and local buses come up from Yudanaka on the Nagano Electric Railway.
Shiga Kogen calls itself the largest ski resort in Japan. Its 18 areas spread across a high plateau inside Joshin'etsu Kogen National Park, from Sun Valley at the entrance to Okushiga Kogen in the north and Yokoteyama by Shibu Pass. Most link on the snow, and buses fill the gaps.
Height is the advantage. Yokoteyama tops out at 2,307 m, the highest ski area in Japan, and Yakebitaiyama and Okushiga reach 2,000 m. The All-Mountain pass runs from 5 December to 5 May, and some areas carry on selling their own tickets after that.
The plateau became a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1981. The Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park lies below it, and Shiga Kogen is the closest ski area to the monkeys.
Worth knowing
- Ikon Pass holders scan straight in at the lift gates; there are no reservations.
- Keep your key ticket and recharge it online for the next visit.
- Read the side-country map before you leave the runs. Everything outside its marked area is closed.
