Weather and cancellations
Ise-wan Ferry decides each sailing on the sea and the weather, and in a storm it can cancel shortly before departure. In rough seas spray can blow onto the vehicle deck, and the operator warns that two-wheelers parked there may get wet.
The boat runs eight or nine times a day each way, from 08:10 to the 17:40 departure, and both ports send a ship at the same minute for most of the day. Ise-wan Ferry publishes a colour-coded calendar for April 2026 to March 2027 that says which days run the fuller B timetable. Check it before you plan a late crossing in winter, because the last boat leaves at 17:40 all year.
Riders coming off the Atsumi Peninsula reach the Irago terminal at the Irago Crystal Porto roadside station, about 30 km from Mikawa-Tahara Station. The ferry company runs a cycle station there with racks, lockers and a pump to borrow. On the Toba side you land beside the town, and Kintetsu's cycle train runs from Toba Station toward Ise and Kashikojima.
Fares went up on 1 October 2025. An unbagged bike now pays ¥1,400 one way, which costs more than packing it into a rinko bag and paying nothing extra. The return tickets save about five percent and last seven days.
Worth knowing
- Pack the bike into a rinko bag for the crossing if you carry one, since a bagged bike rides on the passenger fare.
- Plan to reach Irago by 17:00 at the latest; the 17:40 sailing is the last of the day all year.
- Pair the crossing with the Atsumi Line cycle train from Toyohashi, which takes whole bikes as far as Mikawa-Tahara.
