Eat in Takamatsu
Takamatsu is the capital of Kagawa, which has called itself Udon Prefecture since 2011. Self-service shops are the easiest start: take a bowl of noodles at the counter, add tempura, pay, then pour the broth yourself. Udon Bakaichidai in Taga-machi opens at 6:00 every day but New Year's Day.
Ritsurin Garden, finished in 1745 as a strolling garden for the local lords and opened to the public in 1875, is one of the largest of its kind in Japan. It sits at the eastern foot of Mt. Shiun.
