Resort Pension Le Lagon
¥
Le Lagon is a pension in the woods at Yamanaka, about five minutes from the Yamanakako interchange. The chef placed second in the Prosper Montagné contest for young cooks and builds a full French course from Yamanashi ingredients, with wine from about twenty Yamanashi makers. The dinner plan starts at ¥13,300 a person with four sharing, and a room-only stay starts at ¥7,600.
The pension is on the Fujiichi list of cyclist-friendly stays. The large bath runs from 16:00 to 7:00 on artificial mineral water, with fresh herbs in season, and most plans include a private-hire bath. Dinner guests need to check in by 17:30. It accepts no children under primary-school age and no cards. Expect a ¥3,000 deposit per person when the Sponichi Yamanakako road race is on.
