Izu Matsuzaki-so is a public lodge, once a national lodge, run by the town's development corporation on the beach at Matsuzaki. Rooms face Suruga Bay, where the sun goes down over the water. Choose between a ten-mat tatami room that sleeps five and twins with a bath; the tatami rooms have a toilet only.
The baths are on the sixth floor, with an outdoor pool on both sides and an indoor bath with hot and cooler tubs. You can soak from check-in until 9:00 the next morning, and the water is a calcium and sodium sulphate spring. A private bath fitted for wheelchair users costs ¥2,200 for 45 minutes.
Dinner runs from 18:00 to 20:00 in the restaurant. Bookings open on the first day of the month six months ahead, and the summer holidays and New Year go by lottery. Parking is free for guests.
