Listel is a resort complex on the slopes above Lake Inawashiro, and its high-rise Wing Tower gives every room a lake view. Rooms range from 37-square-metre deluxe twins to Japanese-Western rooms with twin beds and a six-mat tatami room for a bigger family. Eating covers the range too, with a dinner buffet heavy on local dishes, a French room, a kaiseki restaurant, an izakaya stocked with Aizu sake and a top-floor bar.
The hotel drills its own spring 1,200 metres down. The Kocho-no-yu open-air bath looks over the lake and opens from 5:00 to midnight, and the Kurhaus next door adds a pool and a mist sauna. Its own ski area, Listel Ski Fantasia, sits in front of the hotel with gentle beginner runs, a long course with lake views, a mogul course that has hosted World Cup events and a snow play area for small children.
NEKOMA's accommodation list puts the South Area 25 minutes away by car and the North Area 35, and notes that the hotel runs transport to the South Area. That makes Listel a good base when half the group wants lessons on a gentle hill and the other half wants NEKOMA's tree runs.
