This 28-room hotel stands in the woods of the Appi Kogen pension area and pipes its own spring, which it calls Molden no Yu. The water is an alkaline simple spring at pH 8.6 that leaves the ground at 55.7°C, with a slick, lotion-like feel the hotel trades on. Each large bath has an indoor pool, an open-air pool, a dry sauna and a cold plunge. Two private open-air baths named Iwa no Yu and Ki no Yu are free from 15:00 to 23:00 and need no booking.
Every dinner course puts Maesawa beef at its centre, bought only from the Ogata farm, and the basic plan serves it as shabu-shabu. The breakfast buffet was rebuilt in August 2026 around Iwate vegetables and a Maesawa beef curry. There is no elevator, so ask for a lower floor if stairs are hard. The hinoki tubs in the Japanese-Western rooms run on heated tap water, so save your soaking for the big baths.
A six-seat hotel van meets set trains at Appi-Kogen Station, and the Rakuten listing also offers runs to the ski area. The hotel has a ski drying room and no rental gear, so rent at the resort.
