Aomori Spring sits on the north-west flank of Mt. Iwaki above the Sea of Japan, with the Rockwood Hotel & Spa at its foot. The gondola climbs to 921 m, and Quad 1 starts at 396 m, which gives a 545 m drop across 14 trails. Beech forest covers the mountain, and the resort says it has everything from family slopes to steep tree skiing.
Most runs are long and easy. Skyline runs 3.4 km down to the gondola station, and the Sunshine course is the wide main run. The steeper terrain is short and sharp. Corkscrew reaches 30°, and Diamond keeps its natural powder and a mogul zone.
The resort caps day sales at 1,200 tickets, so book ahead on busy weekends unless you're staying at the hotel. The season runs from 12 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, and there's no night skiing. Guided backcountry tours go above the tree line on Mt. Iwaki with a JMGA-qualified guide, and they're private bookings only.
