The MERIDA X BASE carbon and alloy road bikes start at ¥5,500 with damage cover included. Lockers and showers cost ¥100 each, and the ROUVY indoor trainer is free if you book it by phone the day before.
Staff fit each bike and go through the road rules before you leave, and if something breaks out on the road the station's mechanic is the one to call. Its course list ranges from easy seaside loops to a Fuji hill climb drawn up by the local pro team Levante Fuji Shizuoka. Every so often it runs guided e-bike rides, such as the 35 km return climb to the tea fields of Obuchi Sasaba on 15 November 2026.
Jatco-mae Station on the Gakunan Railway is a five-minute walk away, and six cars can park on site. The station says renters need cycle accident insurance and asks for photo ID and an insurance card at the desk, so ask when you book whether cover can be arranged there.
Worth knowing
- Japanese cycle insurance from a convenience store counts, and so does cycle cover attached to car insurance, according to the station's tour rules.
- Book ahead for the MERIDA X BASE bikes, since most sizes have only one bike.
