Getting there
Bus from JR Takatsuki Station, about seven minutes, or about ten minutes by car from Kinomoto IC on the Hokuriku Expressway.
This big bathhouse near the Hokuriku Expressway in Takatsuki pumps its water from 1,500 m down. The spring is a sodium chloride and hydrogen carbonate type, weakly alkaline, and the operator calls it a bath for beautiful skin because it feels soft and keeps you warm. Both sides have an outdoor bath, jacuzzis and a lie-down bath. The women's side adds a herb mist sauna, and the men's side has a hot sauna and a far-infrared one.
Bathing runs from 6:00 to midnight, with last entry at 23:00, and the building stays open around the clock for the lounge course. A bath costs ¥900 for adults on weekdays and ¥1,200 on weekends and holidays, or ¥700 and ¥900 with a membership card that costs ¥500 to join. Children aged 4 to 12 pay ¥500 or ¥700. The bath course comes without towels or loungewear.
Biwaichi Bike in Otsu accepts mid-route returns here, so you can finish a north-shore ride with a bath and leave the bike behind. JR Takatsuki Station is seven minutes away by bus.
