Know before you bathe
Roll your trousers above the knee and dry your feet before stepping off.
Getting there
The foot bath sits on the plaza in front of JR Atami station.
Atami built this foot bath in front of the station in 2004 to mark 400 years since Tokugawa Ieyasu came to bathe here. The water arrives at about 41 °C, and staff drain the bath after 16:00 and refill it fresh each morning. It costs nothing, and a vending machine sells towels for ¥200.
Worth knowing
- Use it while you wait for a Tokaido Shinkansen or the Ito line, since the platforms are a two-minute walk away.
