The Alps Azumino Century Ride is a long ride from Matsumoto and Azumino up the valley to Hakuba and back, held twice in spring 2026, and suits fit riders who want the Northern Alps with free aid stations along the way. Entry in 2026 started at ¥13,000, and fees are not refunded if the ride is cancelled.
The ride runs up the Azumino valley past Matsukawa and Omachi to a turn in Hakuba, then back the same way. The 160 km course starts at Shisuien in Matsumoto and the 120 km course at Alps Azumino National Park. In 2026 each edition took up to 1,500 riders on the long course and 600 on the shorter one. Ride Nagano produces the event with the tourism associations of the four towns on the route.
The April ride carries the name Sakura for the cherry blossom. Midori means green, and the May ride runs through the valley's new leaves. The Midori edition also sold a cycle-train option for 110 riders, who rode from the park to JR Hakuba Station and took the train back to Azumi-Oiwake. Children of primary-school age can ride the 120 km course with an entered adult.
