Monogusa is a soba shop and local-food kitchen in Fukashi, south of Matsumoto's old centre. Alongside the soba it serves fried soba-gaki at ¥620, chicken offal stew at ¥910, nozawana pickles at ¥520 and fuki-miso, the butterbur bud paste, at ¥440. The ¥1,890 soba lunch set adds pickles and a salad. Lunch runs 12:00 to 14:00, and some Sunday evenings close early when the soba runs out.
