Masago Soba suits anyone who wants the bowl Takayama calls the origin of its chuka soba, from a shop that started as a street stall in 1938. The trade-off is a menu of one thing.
What to order
- Chuka soba, regular size
- A bowl of rice on the side
Masago Soba opened in 1938 as a yatai stall, and the tourism office calls it the origin of Takayama chuka soba. The menu is chuka soba in large, regular or small and a bowl of rice. The soy base is boiled together with the stock in the old Takayama way, and the medium-thin curly noodles are rubbed loose before they go in the pot.
It is nine minutes' walk from the station and close to the old town. The shop appeared with a Michelin Plate in the 2019 special edition of the Michelin Guide for Aichi, Gifu and Mie.
