Korian suits riders who want to eat funazushi properly, as a full kaiseki on the Kaizu shore, and it is a sit-down meal with fixed last-entry times.
What to order
- Funazushi kaiseki
Uoji has made funazushi in Kaizu since 1784, and Korian is its restaurant on the lakeshore next to the shop. The writer Endo Shusaku named it, and his advice to serve something you could only eat here led to the funazushi kaiseki. Typhoon Jebi wrecked the building on 4 September 2018, and Korian reopened in a new building in April 2021.
Lunch runs 12:00 to 15:00 with last entry at 13:00, and dinner 17:00 to 21:00 with last entry at 18:00. In cherry season the Kaizu-Osaki shore road north of here fills with traffic, and the Biwaichi map marks a detour around it.
