The Ise-Shima cycle train is the one most riders use. On weekdays it runs on the Toba and Shima lines from Isuzugawa, near the Inner Shrine, down to Kashikojima, and at weekends it stretches back along the Yamada Line to Matsusaka. There is no charge and no booking. Bring a strap, because Kintetsu wants the bike tied to a handrail in the second car from the front.
Limited expresses are a different matter. Every seat on a Kintetsu limited express is reserved, and the company sells no space for a bike bag, so it goes on the rack or at your feet. Hinotori has free lockers for big luggage and Shimakaze has lockers as well, though Kintetsu gives no size for them. Some other cars have a luggage space depending on the train. Kintetsu's own limit for hand luggage is 250 cm and 30 kg.
KettA is a seasonal treat for riders based in Osaka or Nagoya. Kintetsu runs its Tsudoi sightseeing train with bike racks to Kashikojima on four autumn days from each city in 2026, leaving early in the morning and returning in the evening. A ¥1,000 digital ticket secures a rack, and the racks take road, cross and mountain bikes up to 15 kg.
Yoro Railway runs the line from Kuwana to Ogaki and Ibi as a separate company with its own free cycle train, covered in its own entry.
Worth knowing
- Check Kintetsu's cycle-train calendar before a holiday weekend; the service stopped for 19 to 23 September 2026.
- Get on and off at the stations Kintetsu lists, since several small halts on the Shima Line take no cycle-train riders.
- Buy KettA tickets at 10:30 one month before the run; each purchase covers one ticket and one direction.
