The hotel stands at 1,930 m on the Midagahara plateau, two minutes on foot from the Midagahara stop on the highland bus between Bijodaira and Murodo. Small ponds called gaki-ta dot the Midagahara wetlands below the hotel, and the 3,000 m peaks of Tateyama rise behind them.
Every evening from about 20:00 the staff give a 40-minute talk on the plateau in the lobby. In spring the hotel opens with the route on 15 April, when snow still covers the plateau.
