The lodge sits at 770 metres on the southwest flank of Mt. Iwate, and the Kyukamura group also runs Amihari Onsen ski area beside it. Rakuten Travel puts the lifts a minute's walk away. Shizukuishi town says the 2026/27 season is planned from 19 December 2026 to 28 March 2027, six days past the planned close at Shizukuishi ski area.
Amihari's water is a simple sulphur spring, and the inn traces the source back to the early eighth century. The main building has a big bath with indoor and outdoor pools and an older indoor-only bath. A boardwalk with a log foot bath leads over a suspension bridge to the day-bath house, which hotel guests use free. The mixed open-air bath Sennyo no Yu lies ten minutes up a mountain path by a stream, and it opens only from mid-May to mid-November.
A free guest bus runs from the west exit of Morioka Station in about an hour, and it only runs when someone has booked, so phone ahead. Drivers should know the road up is snow-covered and icy all winter and needs winter tyres or chains. Rooms are eight- and ten-mat tatami rooms or twins, and the view side looks across to Mt. Akita-Komagatake and the Hayachine range.
