Takasu Snow Park suits Nagoya riders who want long cruising runs off one gondola and a proper halfpipe, and the trade-off is that the lifts stop at 16:30 with no night session on this side of the mountain.

Beyond the ropes · Marked runs only
Takasu opens four tree-run areas inside the resort and bans riding off the courses anywhere else. Hikers bound for Dainichigatake take the gondola on a ¥2,000 round-trip climbing ticket and hand in a climbing notice first. Takasu publishes no rescue fee, and its neighbour Dynaland warns that it charges for any rescue it carries out beyond the open courses.
- Ride only on the marked courses and inside the Buna, Nara, Tochi and Sakura tree-run areas
- Do not hike up outside the designated courses
- Climbers buy the gondola round trip, hand in a climbing notice at Bantei Takasu and come down by 16:00 the same day
- Carry your own accident and rescue insurance; the resort does not insure visitors and sells no cover on site
- Read the Japan Avalanche Network bulletin before any tour on Dainichigatake

- ¥6,400, about CAD 58 or USD 40 (October 2026 rates)

From Nagoya Station
- Drive
- About 1 hour 30 minutes and 110 km from JR Nagoya Station on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, leaving at Takasu IC for the last 10 minutes
- Bus
- Gifu Bus highway coaches run from Meitetsu Bus Center to the Kosoku Hirugano Kogen stop in about 1 hour 40 minutes, where the free Takasu Snow Shuttle picks up. Day tour buses leave JR Nagoya Station at 7:50 and return about 19:10.
In 2025/26 the free shuttle ran from 20 December to 22 March.
Takayama is about 50 minutes and 45 km away by car and Shirakawa-go about an hour, according to Takasu Mountains. Use the Hirugano Kogen up-line stop for buses back to Nagoya.
Takasu shares the slopes of Dainichigatake with Dynaland in Gujo's Takasu district, and a single 15-seat gondola climbs to the top station at 1,550 m. From there the Bamboo course joins the Beginners course for a 4,900 m run to the base. The resort counts 13 courses over about 100 ha with 600 m of vertical, and 42% of the terrain is graded beginner.
In the high season the two resorts connect at the top and one shared day ticket covers 31 courses. Dynaland's 2026/27 list prices that ticket at ¥6,400 for an adult. Wind or thin snow can close the link at short notice, and the last lift back is the Champion quad.
The pipe crew builds a regular halfpipe and a 7 m superpipe, both about 120 m long, and riders preparing for world events train here. Powder days send the regulars to the Super and Technical courses, where the snow on the north faces holds longest. Four tree-run areas open on the north side, and riding outside them or off the courses is banned.
Takasu runs later into spring than its neighbours. It closed on 19 April in 2025/26, a week short of its 26 April target after a warm and thin winter, and it plans to stay open until late April in 2026/27. Takasu Terrace, the café at the gondola top, sells a burger made with Hida beef and Meiho ham.
Worth knowing
- If you only want the view or lunch at Takasu Terrace, buy the ¥2,000 gondola round trip; there is no one-way ticket (2025/26 price).
- The free Takasu Snow Shuttle links the Hirugano Kogen highway bus stop with the resorts, and in February the morning and evening runs can fill with reservations, so book early or drive.
- Bring your own accident insurance, since the resort carries none for visitors.
