Thomas, a Belgian who moved to Kyushu, started Japan Biking in 2010 and runs it from Izumi in northern Kagoshima as a registered travel agency. Its tours lean on southern Kyushu: hot springs, the Amakusa islands, Satsuma's samurai towns and Kagoshima's volcanoes, with a support van and a cycling guide on the guided departures.
The company also builds custom and private tours and rents its touring bikes and e-bikes to riders going alone. Its published tour calendar and price list date from 2023 and 2024, so ask for current dates and prices before you plan around a departure.
