The European Cyclists' Federation runs Velo-city every year with a host city, and the 2027 edition comes to Matsuyama from 25 to 28 May 2027, under the theme Kyosei: Co-creating a Future with Cycling. Sessions take place in the Ehime Prefectural Budokan, which the organisers describe as one of Japan's largest wooden buildings. Copenhagen and Vancouver are among the earlier hosts, and Rimini held the 2026 edition in June.
Ehime pitches itself on everyday cycling as well as the Shimanami Kaido. The organisers say bikes take about 12% of trips in the prefecture and about 70% of high-school commutes. Expect technical tours by bike around the city and a public bike parade during the week.
