The gyoza festival suits anyone who wants to taste two dozen Utsunomiya gyoza shops in one afternoon at ¥200 a plate, and the 150,000 or so visitors it draws mean long queues at the famous names.

The festival has run since 1999 as a thank-you to the city's gyoza fans. In 2026 its 26th edition brings 24 member shops of the gyoza association to Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park on 7 and 8 November, each selling pan-fried, deep-fried or boiled gyoza at ¥200 a plate. Stage shows run through both days and entry costs nothing.
