Light artist Kyota Takahashi covers the snowfield with coloured 'seeds of light' for his work Gift for Frozen Village 2027, and the piece brings an early spring to a village under snow. After dark, fireworks go up over it, including a three-shaku shell and a starmine set to music. The art field says this is the first Snow Fireworks in six years.
On the night the venue is closed to all vehicles and to walkers, and everyone rides the shuttle buses from the listed pick-up points such as Tokamachi City Hall. Food stalls open at 16:00 and the fireworks begin around 18:00.
Adult tickets cost ¥8,000 and also cover the 2027 triennale passport and the winter programme from 30 January to 7 March 2027. Sales run from 20 September 2026 to 26 February 2027 or until they sell out.
