Shikairo opened in 1899 on the site of Nagasaki's old Chinese quarter, and its Fujian-born founder Chen Pingshun created both chanpon and sara udon there for the city's Chinese students and community. The restaurant now stands at Matsugae-machi near Oura and Glover Garden.
Lunch runs from 11:30 and dinner from 17:00, and the restaurant warns that last entry comes early when queues build. A shop on the ground floor opens from 10:00 to 17:30.
