Kojimaya Sohonten suits soba pilgrims who want hegi soba from the house that says it invented it, and its trade-off is a location out in the Kawanishi fields.
What to order
- Hegi soba for two or more
Kojimaya opened in 1922, and the house says its founder Jutaro took the idea for hegi soba from Tokamachi's weaving trade. The buckwheat is milled on stone in the house and bound with funori seaweed, which gives the noodles their slippery bite.
A painted scroll of hegi soba history hangs at the door, and the walls are clay worked by the plasterer Nagumo Kenichi. It opens from 11:00 to a 20:00 last order with occasional closed days.
