Himi Banya-gai takes its name from banya, the fishermen's huts of this coast, and gathers about 30 shops and restaurants outside Himi's fishing port. Fishmongers sell the morning catch from Himi port, and the restaurants serve conveyor-belt sushi, Himi udon, Himi beef and Himi curry. The Toyama Bay Cycling Route starts in Himi and runs east along the shore toward Asahi.
Next to the market the Sou-yu public bath uses a strong salt spring and charges ¥950 for adults. A free foot bath on the way there looks across the bay to the Tateyama range on a clear day. The market sits about 12 minutes by Kaetsuno bus or 20 minutes on foot from JR Himi station.
